still the same
Still the Same
it’s funny how years can shape a place, and the memories, are never the same
like there’s a distance between, reality, and the way you’d hoped it would be
and your heart gets torn in two, and all you can do, is hold on tight,
or turn around, and leave this place behind
i always said I never wanted this place to change, and everything’s still the same
i always said I never wanted this place to change, and everything’s still the same
everything except me
and I never would’ve expected, to find myself where you’ll find me now
or to look back with so many mixed emotions, over some messed up little town
it would take the voice of God to bring me back, I’d have to hear it loud and clear
but sometimes when I hear a familiar song, I start wishing He’d whisper in my ear
i always said I never wanted this place to change, and everything’s still the same
i always said I never wanted this place to change, and everything’s still the same
everything except me
there’s a place burned deep inside me, that will always call this place my home
and I know home’s where the heart is, cause I left more behind than you know
but hopes and dreams can travel far, and love can turn a man upside-down
and I just hope no matter how much I change, there will always be a place for me in that town

not yet
i can still remember, how i saw you when i was young, when the world was filled with the wonder, of everything you'd done. you were as real as anything, and i saw you in the trees and in the air. and i didn't understand you, but back then i didn't care.
(chorus)
and now i look for you in books and philosophy, in other people's thoughts and all the right theology. and every moment of every day, i wonder where you are. why i can't seem to feel you, why you're not closer than you are. things were simpler back then, and it's taken me all this time to see, that it's not you that's gotten complicated, all along it's been me...

Psalm 91
based on Psalm 91-
we will find shelter in the Lord, and rest in His shadow
You alone are our refuge and shield
You alone are the One who we trust
(chorus)
because You love us, You rescue us
You protect us as we confess Your name
we will find shelter in the Lord, and rest in His shadow
You alone are our refuge and shield
You alone are the One who we trust
(chorus)
because You love us, You rescue us
You protect us as we confess Your name

"holding out" edit 2
-starting to look more like a song...
emotions escape like a sunrise; fleeting and far away
(i've always been) without the words to explain, or the colors to paint, every feeling i've locked away
i've been holding out on you, my dear
i've been holding out on me, all along
it's hard to feel anything,
in this fortress built with fear
but i would burn all these walls,
just to feel for you, my dear
